Albedo is a Galvan scientist who was the personal assistant of Azmuth and one of the few people who worked on the Omnitrix. After the device was built, he warned Azmuth that many beings will see it as a weapon and vouched that it should be given to the greatest plumber in the Universe, Max Tennyson, for safekeeping. When it was found by Ben Tennyson instead, Albedo was appalled that Azmuth entrusts the most powerful device in the Universe to a human child.

In protest, he created his own Omnitrix device he calls “The Ultimatrix”. It has most of the capabilities of the Omnitrix, but it can also evolve the alien forms to their ultimate potential. Improving their abilities and defenses. However, an unforeseen glitch occurred once Albedo activated the device. Since Ben’s DNA is the default form, it turned Albedo into a genetic duplicate of Ben. Now even more disgusted, he vowed to seek his vengeance on Ben Tennyson himself, believing him to be the sole cause of his misery.

Before turning on him, Albedo was one of Azmuth’s most trusted friends. He saw the Omnitrix as an opportunity to house a genetic bank of every species in the Universe and revive them if they were to ever go extinct.

Albedo’s primary contributions to building the Omnitrix was managing the DNA storage capacity (it was his idea to have sets of 10), developing the system that maintained the host’s consciousness without the Alien DNA taking over, and most of the aesthetic designs for the Omnitrix.

Albedo’s Ultimatrix is permanently linked to Ben’s Omnitrix database. So whatever aliens Ben has access to, Albedo does too. As a consequence, Albedo can only unlock aliens when Ben does through his Omnitrix, as the Ultimatrix is unable to scan DNA.

Albedo is more tactful and strategic with his aliens, his knowledge of their biologies often gives him an advantage in combat. But Ben’s creativity with his aliens gives him the edge.

His ultimate forms pump up his aggression significantly as well as slowly corrupts his DNA. The more he uses his ultimate forms, the more scrambled his default DNA becomes. Hence why his colouring is different to Ben’s.

Unlike the Omnitrix, the Ultimatrix was built illegally without authorisation from the “Galactic Galvan Technological Union”, which documents and permits the use of new technologies from levels 5-20. So Albedo will be imprisoned no matter if he’s cured or not due to him illegally building the Ultimatrix.

After corrupting his DNA, he needs the official Omnitrix to both unlock the Galvan form, and complete his Ultimatrix to restore his DNA and officially remove human DNA.

Albedo is regarded as one of the smartest Galvan in the Universe, rivaled only by Azmuth himself and some Cerebrocrustaceans. But whilst he is intelligent, his arrogance is often his downfall. Not only does he believe that he is smarter than Azmuth, but that he is the only one who is worthy of the Omnitrix. Because he now shares DNA with Ben, he has developed similar habits and quirks, such as craving junk food and scratching himself in inappropriate places, adding to his disgust of human culture.
